The <strong>posterior ethmoidal cells<\/strong> open into the front part of the superior meatus while the opening of the <strong>sphenopalatine foramen<\/strong> is behind it. Located above and at the back of the superior concha is the sphenoidal sinus that opens into the sphenoethmoidal recess <sup>[1]<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<h3>Middle meatus<\/h3>\n<p>Situated between the middle and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.therespiratorysystem.com\/inferior-nasal-concha\/\">inferior concha<\/a>, the middle meatus extends from the starting to the finishing point of the latter. It has a bony projection known as the ethmoidal bulla, which contains the middle ethmoidal cells. The uncinate process, a horn-shaped bony projection, is located beneath this bulla. The ethmoidal infundibulum, containing the <strong>fronto-nasal duct<\/strong> leads to this process while the duct is connected with the frontal sinus, which empties into the middle meatus.<\/p>\n<p>The half moon shaped semi-lunar hiatus is located between the ethmoidal bulla and uncinate process, with the <strong>frontal sinus<\/strong>, <strong>maxillary sinus<\/strong> and the <strong>anterior and middle ethmoid air cells<\/strong> opening into it <sup>[2]<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_43\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.therespiratorysystem.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nasal-Meatus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-43\" src=\"https:\/\/www.therespiratorysystem.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nasal-Meatus-300x231.jpg\" alt=\"Nasal Meatus\" width=\"300\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.therespiratorysystem.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nasal-Meatus-300x231.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.therespiratorysystem.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nasal-Meatus.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-43\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nasal Meatus<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>Inferior meatus<\/h3>\n<p>The largest of the three meatuses, the inferior meatus, is located between the inferior concha and the nasal cavity floor, running along the lateral nasal wall <sup>[3]<\/sup>.
